If you have an immediate need to re-home your dog, BGSR cannot help. We recommend that you surrender your GSD to the nearest rescue-friendly Humane Society or Shelter.
In order for BGSR to consider re-homing your dog, the dog must meet the following requirements (or the owner must be willing to meet the requirements):
--The dog must be spayed or neutered
--The dog must be up to date on vaccinations
--The dog must be heartworm negative and taking HW preventative
--The dog must be microchipped
--The dog must not have a bite history
Before agreeing to place your companion, BGSR conducts a thorough evaluation of the dog to determine if the dog is suitable for placement. If the dog is accepted for placement through BGSR, a non-refundable Owner Surrender Fee is collected from the owner, photographs are taken of the dog and a "biography" is written. The dog is placed on the BGSR website and other sites BGSR utilizes for finding a home for the dog.
If you are able to keep your dog until a home can be found and can meet BGSR's Owner Surrender Requirements, please contact us at gsd4me@bgsr.org or 414-921-0310.
